Sculpting Snow & Raising Funds for Children’s Inn

Michelle and I braved the elements to participate in this year’s Media One Funski Event, raising funds for Children’s Inn.  Using a spade, an axe, a hammer, a couple of homemade tools, and at times, even our bare hands, our team of two sculpted Skrek’s “Donkey” out of a block of snow.

Funski has expanded to include an eclectic variety of winter events: skiing, snowboarding, team snow tubing, Frozen Leg kickball, snow sculpture and of course, cross country skiing. The event has become the premier outdoor winter event in eastern South Dakota and is the largest revenue generating weekend of the year at Great Bear Recreation Park. The event is closing in on a half million dollars in total fundraising for the Children’s Inn, a domestic abuse shelter for women and children in Sioux Falls. The money raised is a 100% pass through to the operating budget of the Inn.
